Salvation Army building renovation? What?

http://www.heritageaffordablehousing.com/riverplace.html

Unless I've missed hearing anything about this in the local media, this is news. It is at least news to me. The fact that it refers to JOD as a AAA baseball stadium doesn't say much for the realism of this project though.

I just read about it on the AbsoluteDSM Forums

This was briefly memtion in the Times around the time the public market idea was being trashed.

So Regency was in some kind of deal with this Heritage place out of Seattle?

I was under the impression that they were mainly interested in the Sand and Gravel building.

If only this had been more of a public process, people might have seen more specific plans for what the Freight House project could have leveraged.

good business ideas shouldn't rely government deals and handouts.

at its best, "senior housing" is simply section 8 for the elderly. only more heavily subsidized, enlarging the pockets of the developer.

Sure, in a perfect world, I would say businesses never need incentives and handouts. The problem is that in the real world, if we stand on our moral high ground and refuse to use incentives, all the other communities will be busy luring away all our opportunities.
