Weekend Open Thread

It sure looks good on a map to have city streets laid out perfectly east and west, but danged if it isn't a pain in the eyeballs driving home at sunrise.

Also, just for the fun of it, here's a picture of this beautiful spring morning.

Dirty White Boy here ... your camera takes great photos! What kind is it? Love the photo backed threads. Really classy and sets you apart from the other blogs.

Just trying to live up to my handle...

The camera I use on a daily basis is a cheap, idiot-proof, $150 Olympus D-435 with NO optical zoom. However, since it takes 2592x1944 (which equals 5,038,848 pixels or "5 megapixel") resolution pictures, its easy enough to do a bit of digital zooming and end up with an 800x600 internet-friendly image. I borrow a better Olympus when I know I'm going to be taking a lot of pictures, or need a powerful zoom.

I don't really know how to use the most advanced features, and tend to rely on trial and error. I should really take a digital photography class sometime.

Are we looking at the same downtown QCI? I think the view is dirty and ugly.

Time to go drop the property tax check in the mail. I wonder if Alderman Van Fossen will join the vast majority of us in becoming a taxpayer or if he will ignore this payment also.

The current city council should learn a lesson from the latest JOD problem- never make a deal with a weasel.

There's only really one dirty building in that picture, (Wundram's hated cement plant) and I suspect it won't be around much longer.
