Shawn Hamerlinck for Mayor in 2007!!!!
He is a pawn for the older demographic, and doesn't represent the youth that he is. What a turd burgler:) His ideas aren't going to bring young workers here, but instead keep the older generations happy. That is not how you grow into a successful city:(
Ah, wrong winding hills. Lowering taxes excites the younger crowd, who are trying hard to make ends meet and have a reason to stay here. I will be 30 in November, and you can count me among Shawn's legions of supporters. Let me second the other post, Hamerlinck for Mayor in 07!!
let me guess 30 and native davenporter
What will be anyone's Must Do Thing in Davenport this summer? For me it'll be to attend a Swing game since I haven't seen the new stadium in action. No 2 is see Davenport from the water preferrably from a boat.
The air show is usually one of the highlights of my summer.
NOTHING, Davenport has no attractions i.e. zoo, aquarium, large out-door festivals/concerts (not ridden with red necks), so I break out the charcol grill and a six-pack, play basketball, and get a tan!
what about the figge? or the adler? or the putname? also you can cross the river to go to the zoo, arsenal island, or the botanical center.I think there is a fair share to do.of course there are always the festivals.
Anyone who says there is nothing to do in Davenport or the Quad Cities is a person who is unwilling to get up and try something new. You can find something, somewhere new to do every day if you wanted to, rather than just sit around and complain about how nobody in the QC will cater to your exacting needs. As a 20yr resident of Davenport, I can state for a fact that no matter your age, there are plenty of things to do every morning, day and night.
And don't forget all the car related events around. The cuise-ins to Northpark, Southpark, Maid Rite, A & W, and the Village of East Davenport. Unless you're in to something really off the wall you can find it here.
I would like to spend my entertainment money in Davenport, so I can benefit from the tax dollars, but it is so small town fun here. Instead I go to Chicago, Milwaukee, Atlanta, to see some real modern entertainment. I've been to the air show, it is the same freaking thing every year. I know we can't compete with the large markets, but we need to do more to entertain people so that we/me spend our money in this community. This is old town entertainment, we need to be ground breaking, not following the lead of other cities, duh!
Good luck starting that up Winding Hills. I, for one, can find something interesting to do everyday. If there is something you'd like to see that we don't have, by all means, BUILD IT!
Now that is a shitty attitude, change is hard work, but it is worth it:)I for one would like to see Davenport a better place for my children, you are ignorant and selfish if you don't want to improve this town:(
For petes sake Windinghills, will you clean up your language? Do you talk like that around your kids too? I believe QCI asked you once to clean up your act!
Winding Hills, I know that Davenport doesnt have great opera, or night clubs on par with huge cities like Chicago, but you still live in a cool place with fun stuff to do.
Winding Hills, your logic is astounding. It's a bad attitude to advise you to put your money where your mouth is and do something about the areas you are unhappy with but it's not a bad attitude for you to sit around crying in your cheerios because you have nothing to do??? WTH?
I've lived in a large city and made many comparisons through my own observations and speaking to others about what made that city successful and my Davenport is floundering. Davenport has had all the resources to grow, I've always questioned why this town hasn't experienced more successful growth. That is when I compared what the large city does to bring people in, and what Davenport does, which to me is centered on tourism i.e. Riverboats, and not attracting people to move here. Tourism may help the economy, but a large population growth would help a lot more. The main problem is retaining the educated once they graduate college! That is all I'm preaching brother. Can't we just get along?
Like they said... it helps to leave out the swearing.
Windinghills needs to move over to Crestwoodhills, there's always something to do over there. Never a dull moment!
Free natural gas too... spraying out of bullet-riddled gas meters.
I have no problem finding things to do, they just don't include hanging out with the red necks at most davenport attractions!
windinghills doesn't want to hang out with the rednecks:Thjat's odd, he talks just like one.
How do you know how I talk?
I think he/she means the profanity in your earlier posts.
Hey Windinghills, If you want to get away from the Rednecks, venture out beyond the Rusty Nail. Wait a sec, from your postings I can only assume that you are a child and no where near 21 years old. Step away from mommies computer and take a nap. Baby is getting cranky.
