Update at 7:15AM Tuesday: After getting home from the trip and then going to work an hour later, I now need sleep. Hopefully I'll post some reflections about the trip later today or tonight. I had a great time and saw a lot of great concepts and attitudes.
We reached Louisville last night at 10:30, which was 11:30 local time. We found out that midnight on a Sunday night is not exactly the most lively time here either.
We're now heading out to meet with the local riverfront development entitiy. Then I believe we'll be taking a chilly walk around the recent projects.

If the opportunity arrises at both the cities you are visiting, be sure to ask about how they deal with the homeless, crack dealers, and other people that plague Davenports Downtown. Also inquire about anything simular to JLCS that houses hundreds of fellons and homeless everyday. If they do have such a large program, are the many buildings located in the downtown area, or out someplace where they can do no harm.
Boring
11:23 won't find it 'boring' when QCI fills us in on the skinny about this bus trip. For example, which aldermen were drunk, who stayed in which rooms, ect. Remember: What happens in Louisville, Stays in Louisville.
10:38-you constantly throw these bombs out about JLCS. They have strict rules on NOT housing "fellons". Keep throwing lies around-it really helps make your case.
Lewis Washington is on the same mission as JLCS, and all he rents to is freshly released felons. Some of his property is within a block of JLCS Land.
Oh my - who told you the no felon rule. That is such a complete lie. In fact, last I check Cobblestone T had a felon in it, and don't get me started on the other complexes. You are niave to believe the crew at JLCs. In fact, Chris Clements admits to felons living there. So what - who cares. If JLCS didn't let felons live there , no one would.
Don't take anything at face value. What appears to be is not always...............................................................
Good question though. Find out exactly that city handles its social services. It does matter. We are a big hand out in Davenport and then we attract people who are in search of hand outs. It matters to a community and its health.
Are you people suggesting that if someone committed a felony seved there time and want to turn their lives around they should not be allowed housing in Davenport. Don't you think that people are more likely to reoffend if they havve no support system. Do you know what crimes are considered a felony. Please stop this attitude of hatred and have some compassion for your fellow man.
As in the previous thread about the Parade I think we need to define 'Downtown Davenport' I believe we have at least 3 sections if not 4 below the hill that I can think of. There is a foothold of 'niceness' radiating west from the government bridge. As someone who works second shift and drives thru what I thought to be downtown late nite I can't see all the hundreds of crack dealers and hookers on the street.
No - what I am saying is that if you rent to felons don't lie the community and say you don't so you look good.Lies ar bad.
The problem is that just cause somebody used to be a fellon does not mean that he still is. There is a guy that speaks downtown who is a landlord, Walter Skovronski, and I have heard he is a pretty good landlord. He was a fellon.
Did you find out who paid for the bus expense for all these people QCI?
The levee commission paid for the bus.
