Bix Lives (almost)

Preparations are under way for the biggest weekend in Downtown Davenport's calendar. Tri-City Electric is down there stringing power to all the Street Fest booth locations, and I've been told that the crane on Brady Street will be gone by race day. Here are a couple pre-Bix pix.Boom lifts ready to erect banners and possibly photographers.
Back to our usual subject recently: downtown art. I call this one "Wundram under tarp."

Maybe Davenport could encourage those living along the Bix Course to leave their new trash cans out, and follow with a special pickup, if they are interested in a cleaner Davenport.

I found it interesting that the public works director suggested that residents who pay $4 for an extra bag place that bag on top of the can. I thought the whole point of the extra fee was the need for the driver to get out of the truck.

Even I think the $4 per extra bag is insane. I don't know how you're supposed to recover from missing a week of trash for whatever reason.

I think they should park the spare garbage truck out at public works and allow the public to drop off any extra bags for like 50 cents a bag, or whatever would cover the tipping fee at the dump.

I believe Dee said the $4 price was to keep people from asking for the cheaper (small) container, when they need a bigger one.
