QCI: On the road

A few images from my semi-vacation from blogging. The Mississippi, as seen from Eagle Point Park in Clinton.
A few turtles checking out their reflections at the National Mississippi River Museum in Dubuque.
The Fenelon Place Elevator, also in Dubuque. A unique experience, especially for those of us who aren't into heights.

Many years ago at Eagle Point, you were able to hike a few miles down a cliff trail, take off your shoes, and walk across the spillway all the way out to the dam. The views were spectacular from both the walking path and the spillway. A couple of times the hikers were injured, so the last I knew, they closed that path as it was deemed dangerous. I made that treck several times, and is one of the best hiking experinces ever.
