Holy Holes Batman

There's finally some visible progress on the second phase of the Davenport Lofts, aside from dumpsters and fencing. Today they began cutting holes for the windows on the east wall of the building. Before I know it there will be fellow downtown dwellers looking back at me when I look out my window.

Another tax free project for 20 years?

Just a quick question about the lofts project? Is the Chinese grocery staying? And, when (if ever) are they planning the condo phase?

It must be hard being against all community improvement, eh 12:19?

..and 3:58
As far as I've heard, Alexander Company hasn't bought or even tried to buy the building with the Oriental food store or the beauty supply shop in it. On their master plan that shows about every building in sight being redeveloped, it says it would be 6 residential units and 1700 square feet of commercial. That's listed as "Future" meaning after phase three. Phase 3 is the condos you asked about, which I believe will include the building on the northwest corner of 5th and Iowa, and the building to the west of Tri-City's parking lot. I'd have to ask about their timeline for that, but I think I remember them saying they hoped to start even before Phase 2 is done.

Form a not for profit and go for it. Davenport loves to give away tax dollars.

With all the money we are ging to Davenport One, why can't they seem to use it to attract private development? UHMMM?

And QCI, don't try and tell me that the Lofts and the other project is private. It is tax credits. Housing for the poor that is Free free free to the "private developer". But costs taxpayers millions.
