Great Mississippi Valley Fair 07

One more event in the busy summer schedule of festivals and fairs. "The fair" is also another thing that we probably take for granted. I've heard that it compares pretty favorably with many state fairs.

There's always plenty of food to be had. Since I skipped the Louisiana things-on-a-stick vendor at the Bixfest, I had myself a Pork-on-a-stick last night, which was delicious. There's also a trailer with enough ice cream treats to be a traveling Dairy Queen, so I sampled some of that too. The diving show has a different theme this year, and its also quite a bit smaller and shorter than last year. I'm not sure what happened there, but its still worth the 20 minutes to watch it. Its at least more exciting than the slow-paced chain saw art that I spent a while watching. Maybe someday they'll get some grandstand acts that I care to see...

As I have said before, except for what facts are trickling out, there is mostly just rumor and accusations at this point. There other blogs are covering that, and I've been sick of talking about JLCS for 2 years.

Yeah whatever. This ain't no rumor. Kate Ridge screwed up big time and so did her board. So much for the mission.

That much does seem clear at this point. What discussion do you want about it? What you want is a bunch of JLCS-haters sitting around patting each other on the back and saying told-you-so.

No - what we really need is for people to take off the rose colored glasses and wise up about this agency and the manner in which they operate. We help the poor with your tax dollars, but we actually are wasting your tax dollars because we can't manage our money and then we screw over the people in the neighborhoods and tell the community that we are doing God's work. Screwing people in the name of poverty and God.

The fair was great. Expensive - but great. Fun fun fun for all all all.
