Coming later today: Predictions and Endorsements

Where have I been? Having fun with Halloween, visiting friends in Indiana, upgrading my computer, taking it easy... Pretty much everywhere but here reading all the nasty comments, rumors, and other pre-election junk that's been flooding the local blogs. Its the kind of stuff that makes me want to quit doing this, so I've just been sitting this week out. Reading some of the attack comments on the other blogs bothers me enough without having them on my own.

However, I'm not completely giving on up election discussion. Later today I should have both who I think should win and who I think will win in Davenport Election '07 posted.

In the meantime, I'll post my and endorsements and predictions. (in endorsement - prediction order)

Mayor: Gluba - Gluba
At Large: Frink, Olsen - Olsen, Frink
1st: Brown - Gibbs
2nd: Hamerlinck - Hamerlinck
3rd: Boom - Boom
4th: Lewis - Ambrose
5th: Lynn - Cunningham
6th: Justin - Gilmour
7th: Barnhill - Barnhill
8th: Matson - Matson

Actually, I probably owe Lynn an apology, because the more I think about it, the more I feel I should've written a letter to the editor in support of him. As my alderman, he's been very responsive to my concerns, and I like how active he's been in his position with regular newsletters. I think he's also done regular ward meetings, but I never get around to attending those. Watching him on channel 18 and in speaking with him personally, I've found him to be very educated and effective. He's not wasting time asking questions other have already asked, or rambling on about without an apparent point, or giving long-winded superfluous rhetoric.

On the other hand, while I've been warned to watch out for the nefarious tricks Lynn's "special interest" friends have up their sleeves. Yet here it is, five o'clock election eve, and the only smears I've seen have been against Lynn (note that I don't blame Cunningham for those attacks.) Most of Cunningham's proposals that I've seen have been nebulous, to the point that I have no idea what he's proposing (the lit drop piece I got said something along the lines of "I'll bring people together and something will get done, things will happen"), and the one concrete proposal I read (switching insurance for fire fighters) runs counter to the literature I've read and I'm unable to find the study he cites that would disprove that.

While Lynn may have made mistakes, I can't help to agree with him on the issues that matter to me. I have no argument against Cunningham, it's just that Lynn has given me enough reasons to me to want to see him continue. Best of luck to both candidates.

Lynn's little group of merry men were the ones who attacked Olsen. My gosh - why on this earth would you support that guy. Seriously?

6:38 PM, by that standard, I'd have to hold Cunningham responsible for the illegal attacks against Lynn. Like I said, for me, Lynn has been an exceptional alderman, and Cunningham hasn't proven, to me, that he would be that much better. Again, good luck to both candidates.

I know that Cunningham has not been responsible for the attacks. Try Lubell. No really. He is such a dirtbag, he got Gluba and Olsen too. What a freaking dirtbag.

Lubell must be quite the conflicted personality to be both responsible for the illegal attacks against Lynn, yet also part of "Lynn's little group of merry men."

HE IS!

You know, Olsen shouldn't get a pass on the ethics thing. She said what she said and it is a violation of the ethics rule.

I would be more inclind to overlook it if she weren't so darn defensive. If your wrong, admit it and move on. That I would respect.

Praying for Yerington. He is what our city needs

You think taxes are high now ---vote Yerington back in. He is saying he will have his office open to the public, not if Martha is his secretary. He was not very open in the past. He had his own agenda. Please vote Gluba.

I checked today on the ethics website through a lawyer friend of mine, there are no cases under her and there are no investigations. It is a lie you dummy. Get it yet? Dah - I thihnk you was duuupppeeeed. Oh my could it be?
