Stuff I missed, or did I?

I have been in news/information withdrawal lately, with no internet access and not even the ability to read the news on my phone. It bothered me greatly, but now that I am back, part of me wonders what it is that I miss.

I start reading people slamming on Malin, slamming on Winborn, slamming on whoever... I guess its just not the stuff I read blogs for.

I will admit that Winborn's decision not to seek reelection is pretty big news, especially since back on the Louisville trip I heard him say that he was going to run again. I wonder if another 8 months of negativity changed his mind? Yerington, Howard, Lynn? None of the above, please. If it had to be someone who's already been involved, I'd probably pick Ian Frink. I think someone new might be a good idea though.

Lets try to keep things civil around here today; I've seen enough wasteland lately.

Casino Updates!
Bettendorf will build the events center.
Rock Island is starting on their new site off of 280/92.
Davenport has pushed back their meetings on what to do with theirs.
Time for Davenport to get some momentum on this. A new casino will take another 18 months to build (at least in Rock Island) I would think that remodeling the river center would take alot LESS time.

Last Wednesday night the City of Davenport added a new chapter to the City's investment policy that requires that the City Finance Department take the reinvestment record of financial institutions into account when making decisions on where to deposit City funds. Community members and the City will have an opportunity to review the Community Reinvestment Act files of banks that respond to the Request for Proposals for depository institutions. This response will have to demonstrate lending to small businesses and to neighborhoods in the City of Davenport.

There is a forum tomorrow night at 6:30PM at the Fairmount library to discuss the Davenport Promise.

I would vote for Frink

Van Fossen might make a good mayor.
He wouldn't be any worse than Winborn.

Our new mayor must have a "type A" personality to be able to weather the storm because of what these clowns have done to the city for the last two years. Right now, I don't see that type in those applying for the top spot. We need someone with b@lls and a level head and a lot of common sense.

How about you?

I've been approached, sorry, conflict of interest. But I'm sure there has to be others out there that can bring it.

Hey QCI:

Rumor has it that your beloved John Lewis is going under. Big time! It appears to me mismanagement of the agency. Who would have predicted that?

How does one lend to a neighborhood exactly?
