50 Degree Open Thread

Talk about anything except VanFossen-gate stuff here. Please continue using the thread a couple posts down for that.

I don't have much to say this morning, except maybe another wish for the WIU:QC riverfront campus to actually get some funding this year. It seems like there'd be some rich alumni that could step in and put up a few million as further leverage for the fine state of Illinois to fork over some money. It really makes you think about the $120 million+ prison sitting there in Thompson.

Of course, some QCTimes commenters are opposed to expanding our only effort towards a public 4 year university... I don't know why I still look at them.

Don't forget that Davenport will be picking up loose limbs and tree debris free of charge next week. They failed to mention that the yard waste bins will be emptied free as well so it may be to your advantage to get started on the yard cleaning this week as well. Remember, the first day of SPRING is the 21st. Start watching for the flower shoots to "spring" up!

Don't you know, taxes are only good for streets, sewers and cops.

We'd all be much happier, have a better quality of life and attract more business if we lived in a perfectly paved police state with high capacity toilets.

Who needs parks, museums, culture and education? That's for them godless fairies in Europe.

This is 'Merica, dammit.

We don't want no stinking streetscapes or skateparks or attractive pedestrian bridges. Just black asphalt and boys in blue packing heat as far as the eye can see!

All we need to do is have the University of Iowa start to talk about some kind of extension campus in Bettondorf or Davenport. Then watch how quick WIU gets their butt in gear. I don't know why Iowa doesn't consider one here. Do we really want to send our kids and our money to Illinois? They even offer in-state tuition to Scott county residents.

To what are you referring?

I would hope that you don't consider Van Fossen to be one of the main problems in Davenport.
