Blogspot 2.0 Open Thread

I finally took the plunge and trusted Blogspot to switch me to the new version. It seems that today the finally decided to make it mandatory. So far it doesn't appear that they've misplaced any of my data, rearranged my carefully-arranged images, or deleted the thousands of comments. I was worried about all of those things, but not quite worried enough to spend the time backing up the entire site. Moving 508 posts onto a new system is no small feat, and it only took about 5 minutes. Please let me know if there are any problems with different screen resolutions, operating systems, WebTV, etc.

In old news, what does anyone think about the Starbucks opening in downtown Davenport? As a non coffee drinker, I'm indifferent. Color me impressed when downtown can support 2 of them.

Also, I recently purchased these new computer speakers. Just what every tenant wants to see their neighbor carry into the building! Thank goodness for foot-thick cement floors. Unfortunately my Google advertising revenue didn't quite cover the cost. Or... any of it.

Later today I hope to post something about the NEO/Firefighting mess, so PLEASE save your comments about that for the related post.

I hate that Starbucks is opening downtown. I'm a staunch believer in supporting local small business. I'm sure they won't miss my business, though.

It's a good sign! If Starbucks thinks there is enough downtown business to open a store, other shops may follow their lead. I've researched new locations for stores of many types in the past and you can bet many owners would love to be located next to or near a Starbucks.

Who will be the next owner to take the plunge in downtown Davenport?

This was posted on my blog.

QCI: With the changes to your blog, webtv can no longer comment. Also your email addy that is listed on blogger no longer works.

Crap... I'm pretty sure I can't downgrade.

Colonel, have you emailed them (blogger) about it?

Also, I don't know why my email link isn't working, because that's still my email address. If the link part isn't working, you can always just manually type quadcities@gmail.com into whatever email system you use, and that should work.

The e-mail on the blog itself shows correctly, the e-mail showing in your profile is the one they are having problems with.

As I posted on Snarky's blog: I've added my QCI email to the profile. The Dodger one is my AIM/AOL screenname. I've never had anyone Instant Message me about blog-related items, so I suppose I could remove that to cut down on confusion.

I will contact blogspot about the WebTV issues. I'm guessing that WebTV folks also can't comment on Cruiser's blog? It looks like he's on the new system as well.

I haven't heard from anyone about not being able to post. I guess it's possible that WebTV users can't post though. I've been on the set-up for around a month so evidently the two people who post don't use WebTV. Maybe they don't have a google account. I don't see a way here to sign in with a blogger account.

Colonel,
Have you tried the Google Help Group.
