Sears, however, seems to think its a real issue, as suddenly every one if their doors had a white paper with plain black text wishing people a Merry Christmas. I guess Sears goes whichever way the wind blows. It was clearly sent out by the high-ups with orders to post it everywhere.

But the point was, before all the hubbub, they DIDN'T have anything about Merry Christmas. They just caved to the media's pet story of this December.
Caved or just corrected whats been going on for years.Political correctness.The media's pet story is a broken record that is dusted off and played every Christmas. This year it just has a new wraping called "the war on Christmas" In years gone by it's been "have a Merry X-mas.The point here is, I'm not letting ANYONE spoil my CHRISTMAS or how I express it. In public of private.
I celebrate Christmas with my atheist partner. We celebrate Christmas mostly due to the tradition of family. I spend the majority of my available funds celebrating this holiday and expect acknowledgment from the places where I shop of this highly popular long standing American tradition from which they make the majority of their profits. If they choose to advertise "Happy Holidays" or in some other way blur this holiday away from its traditional roots I will not choose to shop there. No hard feelings.
