St. Patrick's Day Parade Images

Here are a few shots from today's parade. The weather was better than some years, worse than others. Overcast, misty, almost Irish weather...

Third Street, before the parade.

You never know what you're going to see in a QC St. Patrick's Day Parade. Irish Santa, and the weinermobile made appearances today.

And the parade joins into the 3rd Street bar area festivities. This block, at this exact hour of the year, has got to be one of the liveliest places in the QC.

It's hard to tell if that is the parade photo, or a picture of the homeless waiting for a free lunch at St. Anthony's.

Looks like another successful event. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

If that is homless, Davenport has a well dressed bunch.

^This is a dumb post that serves zero purpose. You're pathetic.

I was at the parade and had a great time. It's no wonder that according to AOL it's rated the 13th best St. Patrick's Day parade in the world.

Speaking of the homeless, today as the first really nice day I saw 3 different men out...2 on different corners of the I-74/53rd Street exits and one at the Cinemas a block away. Do you know where the information is about how much they have to pay for a license to do that? I was thinking it was around $75 but wasn't sure. Seems as though today will be the first day in many we will be seeing them out asking for money.

Also, your sister and I were discussing how there is a new indoor party place on Kimberly (near Mississippi Valley Credit Union). Any idea when its opening and who owns it?

Do you mean the old Eagle Store at Spring Village? If so, they sure painted it a gawdy color of blue.

The pizza/fun place is called Incredible Pizza. Here's a QCTimes article about it.

The Bettendorf panhandling licenses are free, but you have to renew them every 6 months. Here's a QCTimes article about that. The folks doing it are not allowed to enter the roadway, so they have to stick with talking to you awkwardly from the curb. Now that I think about it, its interesting that I've been panhandled far more in Bettendorf than in downtown Davenport.

They also do it year round. I've seen them this winter along the I-74 off ramps.

For dealing with the elements, they may make more than I do.
