Someone extra happy about free yardwaste collection

Sorry about the lack of posts, but I've been enjoying this July weather we're having in November. Here's a house that got some serious raking done this week. I count at least 50 bags in this picture, which would cost quite a fortune to dispose of at $1.60 a bag during non-free yard waste collection weeks. Folks in Rock Island that are still complaining about free collection with free paper bags don't know how good they have it.

Now, haul all those out back to the alley for pickup!

They might not have to move the bags. If the house is on East Locust there may not be an alley to move them to.

There is an alley out back like the previous poster stated. Looks like Sandra Kline was in "kick-ass" mode.

While I believe there's some kind of alley off of Oak Lane, I believe those houses along there put their trash out on Locust, where their driveways come out. I haven't been by today to see if all the bags are gone, but I suspect they are.

Are we not lucky to live in a city, that has a long history of protectnig the enviroment. No stinky, hazy, smoke filled days!! Good excercise, good health...

We really do take for granted some of the trash/compost/recycling advances that we've had for years in Davenport. Thinking about many cities filling their landfills with yard waste, newspapers, cans, milk jugs, e-waste, etc while we compost, recycle and demanufacture those items is pretty amazing.

Also, the bags are gone from the house in the photo, so obviously they were correctly located.

The December 2009 QCI Award for downtown winter closing goes to Sippi's.

Only for the winter, although that surprised me too. It seemed like they had a good crowd most times I walked by, but maybe they only liked the patio.
