Nothing QC-related from me today.
Someone requested a thread about Blagojevich, so what the heck. What is there to say? The guy's either an idiot or crazy, and I don't think we'll see anyone jump up to defend him. When I first read the news I was pleased, because the sooner he's out of office, the sooner Illinois can get back to business like WIU:QC and Chicago-QC rail service, not to mention reopening parks and historic sites.

Davenport has its own crooks but nobody investigates them.
QCI you just had to go and open the nut-jar didn't you! The surprise is that it took almost six hours for the first nut to show up.
Davenport may have its problems, but I doubt you'll find anything near the level of brazen self-interest (now that Niky Bowles has gone away) or outright lunacy (now that Keith got voted out) that Blagojevich has displayed.
I love your logic QCI!
In QCILand, once Blago is gone, Illinois will suddenly have all this money to spend on parks, historic sites, rail service to Chicago, WIU-QC campus, etc.
If only it was that simple. Maybe you believe unicorns will transport us to Chicago---what a hoot!
And there is nut #2.
Because of the strangely large amount of power that the Governor of Illinois has in the legislative process, I do think it will make a difference. Having the top politician in the state not being an insane or idiotic person should make for a much easier time passing legislation.
I'm not saying the rest of Illinois's state representatives are all great, because they aren't, but I think they have a better chance of working things out with a new governor.
Pioneer:
This blog may attract alot of nuts, but you need to understand that is caused by QCI. He's the Head Pistachio.
Conservative Demo here:
Here's a beaut; some guy says, "If Governor Rod Blagojevich wants to plead insanity in his federal corruption trial, he may call me as a witness."
The guy had a crazy (no other word for it) job interview with the Blago early-on.
Here's the link and don't stop at reading just the blog post, some of the comments are a hoot as well.

I miss Niky and Keith. Those days... when the Davenport was a wee-bit interesting... what do we have now?
What do we have now? Meyer was at least smart and honest. He respresnted first the citizens of Davenport and its neighborhoods. I don't recall him ever asking for cash from anybody but paid his own way. Unlike Boom who is bought and paid for by Davenport One.
And then there is the head of Quad City Idiots pansy for the City trying to rip Younkers off for $10.00.
What we have now is government of the stupid back behind closed doors.
QCI is right about the state having the potential to do a lot of things once Blago is replaced. The amtrak to the QC thing has been infuriatingly slow, especially since the costs would be largely covered by the federal government (they pick up 80% of the bill). If you ever read the news you know that WIU and the amtrak deal are just waiting for he passage of a capital budget and this has been impossible because of Blago's inability to work with the state legislature.
There are no guarantees that Blago's replacement will take charge and get things done but its hard to imagine someone doing a worse job.

If you're in need of a good belly laugh and can get past reading the "F"-word without having a stroke, you might find this one entertaining. Ostensibly a transcript of a phone-tapped conversation between Blago and Rahm.

Let's try that URL again and hope the blog takes the full copy-paste this time. They look complete when I paste em but manage to get cut before being published.

Sorry guys, blogger's problem, not mine.

The whole thing works for me, CD.
For those it doesn't work for, here's Conservative Demo's link to the Daily Kos.
The 'transcript' is quite entertaining but sounds a bit too much like a second rate soap opera. Not that it can't be a legit conversation but heard better dialogue on PASSIONS.
As far as crooks in local government there has got to be some on the IL side of the QCA. Davenport can't have all the fun.
Going to take the high road on the above comment about Meyer and keep my mouth shut but the veiled reference to the owner of this blog was quite lame.
o3Quote from 12-14 @ 11:30- "Meyer was at least smart and honest. He respresnted first the citizens of Davenport and its neighborhoods." HUH?????? Meyer smart? NOPE! Honest? HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!! Man, unbury your head out from under that rock Niky.
