A couple of videos

I thought I'd take today to post a couple of QC-area marketing videos. I'm sure that most of you have seen the first one, which is about downtown Davenport, because they've been playing it a lot lately. The second one is from the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau, (CVB) and talks more about the entire QC area, advertising it to both potential residents and visitors.

Here's the Downtown Davenport one:

And the Visit Quad Cities one:

I'd be curious if either of these are shown on TV stations in other markets, or on the Mediacom Connections channel around the state. While the videos are positive to the point where some could call them propaganda, they are an important part of selling the QC area. They're great for showing people that there's more to the Quad Cities or downtown Davenport than there was in the 1980's when some of them last visited. The first step in getting visitors here is showing them what we have to offer.

It would be far better if it was musical. And shot all in winter. Like West St. Paul's promo video.

What a great little video. The funny thing is that over 100,000 people have watched that, which is more exposure than the commercially produced, "serious" videos will probably get. West St. Paul could become the Chuck Norris of communities.

Davenport One could disappear tomorrow and no one would miss it. Sad but true.

That video was pretty great.
Lots of familiar faces.

8:24, just because you feel a certain way doesn't give you the ability to speak for everyone. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would miss DavenportOne if they were gone.

Two things missing: Civil War Muster and the QC Air Show. Other than that I thought it was great.

Wow, the QC is literally "on the map" now.

Interesting that they did a bunch of random streets in Moline, but not really any other local roads aside from one or two streets in downtown D-port.

Also interesting how at the new Milan Beltway interchange where John Deere Rd turns into Blackhawk Rd, the map and Streetview show the correct configuration of the roads, but the satellite view still shows the old straightaway.

i laughed that at this point, i can barely see anything in downtown davenport, but i can see all kinds for side streets in east moline, amongst the neighborhood where i grew up.
