Times endorsements: Davenport Council -QCTimes
Some pretty surprising ones here, including Lynn for 5th Ward and Ortiz for At-Large. I'm planning to put together my endorsements today or tomorrow morning, but I can reveal that I certainly won't be in lockstep with the QCTimes.
Maybe I'll surprise everyone and vote for Keith?

What I find interesting, is the QCT publish the endorsements on a Wednesday... Not a weekend when circulation is up. Suprised by Ortiz, but really either Gordan or Ortiz would be fine... I lean towards Gordan more. Now on the 5th ward deal, I find it ironic they concluded that now Bill Lynn has sold out on all the special interest that got him there, he is fit for duty. How many council meeting did Bill Lynn go to, or how many interviews did he have with staff, prior to running for 5th ward. HMMM, if I recall, it was none. Cornwell is working hard and demonstrating a real desire to be on the council. It's an energy this lethargic council needs. I really don't know the guys running for the 2nd ward, but the picture of the guy they endorsed, maybe me think of the evil guy on Flash Gordan who tries to take over earth...
These are the people who endorsed Jamie Howard for Mayor and Davenport Promise. Image will just endorse Cornwell and Gordon. The rest will be the same.
If those were QCI’s choices, I would agree.
I’m not convinced that Ortiz is fiscally responsible enough for the position. And one angry man Meyer is just, well, too angry.
Cornwell over Lynn would be a positive change. Lynn has too much baggage from previous alliances.
Boom vs Vasquez, anyone have a prediction here? I would be surprised if Vasquez can ouster Boom. But weirder things have happened in that ward.
This article pretty much sums up Lynn's career as an alderman.

I agree that just because Lynn has laid low for the last 2 years, we can't look past everything he did prior to that.
So true. How can you trust a guy who is smug about his allegiance to the slumlords. He doesn't deny the fact the only money raised comes from folks who sell "rent-to-owns" and kick you out in the street after missing one payment. You may support the guy (Lynn) with the convertible top hair do, but put yourself in the shoes of someone who lost there home after missing one payment. Just not right.
Which ones running are willing to vote to ban rent to owns? To me, it doesn't seem to be much of an issue with the candidates.
8:33, nice insult. It's too bad that you are not smart enough to disagree with someone without insulting them.

Nitrous,
Go back to Crusier's blog and whine about Obama. This here blog is about city politics.
Could have fooled me. I thought this one was about yard signs, t shirts, and insults.
Lynn is/was not the supreme ruler of the council. The changes could not have been made by him alone. Again, which candidates have been outspoken about getting rid of rent to owns or change housing inspections? What are thier ideas?
I bet 6:28 can't come up with anything, but an insult.

Nitrous,
You have a very short memory and it wasn't about getting rid of rent-to-owns, it's about support of watering down or ridding of the city of housing inspections. Those folks are: Lynn, Ambrose, Hammerlink, Van Fossen, Meyers and Barnhill. I don't think one could blame Barnhill, VanFossen and Meyers, all three rely on others to do the thinking for them. I can say the blame of what has happened to the city was mostly apart of these clowns.
You tell me, what has Lynn done for the 5th ward lately and don't give the same "fight crime with the GA's" bull because GA's no longer exists. That's right, very few members willing to parade around in their raspberry berets.
