Drunken antics

Its always interesting what comes across the police radio in the middle of the night.

Last night, or this morning really, a car crashed into a tree near Central Park and Farnam, and then somehow managed to drive off, leaving a trail of fluids and debris. It ended up parked on Central Park near Grand. From what I could tell from the radio, the driver then got out, started walking away, and then came back and retrieved something and locked the doors before running off again.

According to the dispatcher, around this time the owner of the car called in to report his car stolen. This is pretty much standard procedure when the police have captured a car but not the criminal that drove it. Then it becomes the police who have to prove that it wasn't stolen. The officers figured they'd like to talk to the owner, who then changed his story to say that he was out of town. It sounded like they ended up getting the guy anyway though. If he was as drunk as it would seem, hopefully they lock him up for a while. He's just lucky it was just a tree that he ran over and not a kid or someone's grandmother.

Had this happen on my property. I had to track down the vehicle( found it two blocks away) and the cops did nothing but tell me it was reported stolen, after. No leg work , nothing. The tree damage was nothing to the Davenport cops. They were mad aout being called out on a Sunday morning.Davenport Cops who don't live in the City and don't give a crap are a big problem. As long as it isn't happening in their neighorhood.

That last comment made no sense, served no purpose, and wasn't even funny. If this were Billy Madison, this would be the part where the guy at the podium would say:

"What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Everybody knows no one hates QCI more than Keith, but that rant was even too much for him.

No, wait, I rescind that comment.

I think the post was stupid too, but you have no idea if it was Keith or not. Leave that crap out unless you can provide proof.

To the first poster, get with Cruiser, Walnut and the rest this weekend and get candidates ready for the next election (it's what D-1 does and you can do the same). Get your guys in and you can fire everybody in the city government and hire better people.

To Billy Madison, I love that line.

Duck Creek should be an amenity in which children wade and fish, instead of a cesspool of neglect. More flower boxes downtown please, for our wonderful image.
