Anonymous, Madison is always near the top of livablility indexes while the Quad Cities is always near the bottom of the same lists. Your comments probably sound like sour grapes to the people of Madison.
Yeah... I think I counted 6 tower cranes between the UW campus, hospital, and downtown. They do have some advantages over us, of course, since they have the state capital advantage of Des Moines combined with the big college town advantage of Iowa City.
What P98 sez may well be true and I wouldn't dispute it anyway. I would however like to add that positive as well as negative outlooks, attitudes, and morale generally filter from the top down.

Madison is a town of liberals. They deserve the high taxes, crappy road system and cold...

Madison is full of homos..
Conservative Demo here:
"town of liberals" and "is full of homos", both very broad-stroke statements, Looks like we may have a couple of political TV ad writers here.
Crappy roads??? Anonymous have you ever even been to Wisconsin? That is a state that has it's act together. And Madison is a town going somewhere.

The biggest advantage they have is that the people there have a very positive outlook and attitude about their town.
