Well, once again that arrogant ass Charlie Brooks tried to bully Hamerlinck at the Finance Committee meeting yesterday. Hamerlinck and Meyer had comments and questions to ask but it being CHARLIE'S meeting, he ignored the fact that their lights were on and would not let them speak. This has not been the first time for this crap by Charlie.
Well Hamerlinck made a nice recovery at the end of the meeting stating that both he and Meyer were not allowed to speak and then proceeded to say what Charlie did not want heard.
It is really amazing what the at home tv audience misses at these meetings.
The landlords speaking out against PEDCOR keep saying that a new apartment complex would saturate an already weak market of units unocuppied now. Having helped a relative search for an apartment recently, I can speak very accurately on what is available in the Davenport rental market. The reason that so much is standing open and unocuppied is that the many apartments that we viewed were dirty, substandard health hazards at an exorborant price. These were apartments that I would not even put my ex-wife into ...and I hate her. So landlords if you would provide a better quality product at a fair price then your market would be lucrative.
Hamerlinck bullied? Hardly he can take care of himself. Maybe if he hadn't started off from the begining acting like such a jerk, others on the council might not see everything coming out of him as a fight. Just because someone is bucking the statis quo doesn't mean they are right.
Re the CB posts: While what I think about him doesn't matter because I can't vote in his ward (and DIDN'T vote for him as mayor) but his own kind apparently felt (by a few votes anyway) they wanted to be represented by him. Whether or not they'll reelect him next time depends on how well he represents their collective well-being.
Hey, the current city finance director also has talked about his own personal bankruptcy quite openly. Sense a pattern here? hmmmmmm Bettendorf, we'll be following in your footsteps soon...

Ever wonder how someone like Charlie, who filed for personal bankruptcy a few years ago, can be chairman of the Finance Committee?
ReplyDeleteJust another one of those Davenport things that make you go hmmmmmmmm!

ReplyDeleteYou talking about the same Mr. Brook that was elected TWICE to mayor and ONCE (so far) to alderman?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good track record to me!

I'm not from Charlie's ward but I will donate time and money to the qualified candidate that runs against him next time. Time to dump this clown.
ReplyDeleteShut up you retards, Brooks is one of the only level headed politicians we have. What? Do you want to bring man perm Yearington back? Loser!
ReplyDeleteInteresting how the person who calls everybody else a retard misspells the names of both the former mayors.
ReplyDeleteHe's as good a politician as he was a lawyer. Both suck!
