  1. Simple minds and auto dialers will end up sinking our ship, the USS Davenport!

  2. Nice post QCI. Other than Doc not making it past the primary I don't think there were any big surprises.

  3. The people of the 5th ward must be the stupidest people in Davenport, how can they cast a single vote for Bill Lynn? The man has single handedly tried to ruin our neighborhoods. Get out the vote 5th ward and vote the other guy in.

  4. I was a little surprised by a couple of races. But nothing bowled me over. I was pleasantly surprised by some of the results.

  5. As a 5th ward voter all I can say is I'm not supporting Bill Lynn and I don't know anyone that is. So I'm confused. The ward does have a really high contingent of rent-to-owns and rentals. Any chance our QCRPA scumlords are busing their people to the polls in exchange for a break on rent or something?

I hope Cunningham does an analysis by district and focuses hard on the uniformed to get the vote out where he needs it. I'm home all day and I've never seen him and received no mailings from him so he'd better get a move on and let people know who he is and what he stands for.

  6. So 10:52, if you're home all day and are whining so hard about never receiving any retail politiking from your guy, why in heck aren't you volunteering to do some of it for him?
Get off your butt and maybe you can make a difference. Sit on it and complain to a blog and you have no control beyond your one single vote.
    Did yoou vote today?

  7. So much for the Times' endorsements. It appears that no one listened to them as they think. Not one of the candidates got the top votes. Olsen kicked butt. She should have run for Mayor, she apparently would have beat Gluba.

  8. Um... 11:03, if 10:52 hasn't been contacted by Cunningham, why exactly should 10:52 "get off his butt" and volunteer for him?

  9. Now is the time to carefully follow the unspent Jamie Howard contributions of $7175.12 (as of October 2nd). I wonder how this money will end up in the campaign funds of other Goldstein and DAV One supported candidates, as this was the original source of this money. I also believe it is against Iowa State election laws to transfer contributions from one campaign to another. Wonder if these contributions are just going to have to "SIT OUT" the General Election.

  10. FOLLOW THE MONEY !!!!

  11. 11:03 I'm wheel chair bound so I assure you no one would be happier to get off their butt. Would take a miracle though. Lost use of my legs to polio as a child. As far as voting, yes. If you vote in my polling place you would have seen me. I'm a proud poll watcher volunteer for many many years. It's one of the few things I can do to give back to my community for all the help given to me over the years. Since you gave me the opening. Do more than vote - we need more volunteers to help at the polls. Some of the older folks work really long hours with no one to relieve them.

  12. anonymous comments are lame

I like Gluba saying that he won basically because he ran a positive campaign. Well, gee, looks like he learned something from his negativity-filled failure that was his campaign last year.

I can't believe Keith Meyer made it through. Absolutely terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  13. How can Gluba claim he was "positive" after openly attacking both other candidates at the MOJO forum????

    ReplyDelete
  14. Not only is Gluba a prima donna, but Gluba called the landlords "sleezelords". Who is going negative? They absolutely did not run a negative attack add. They did publicize his support of the McCain-Kennedy Bill that would give blanket amnesty to ALL illegal aliens and put a heavy burden on our tax system. It shows his willingness to waste taxpayers money and it is therefore relevant to the campaign. Thank you to the landlords. And, who is the attack dog here?

    ReplyDelete
  15. pretty obvious who that last poster is. 'thank you to the landlords'???? come on. at least on the phone you called yourself 'taxpayers united.'

    ReplyDelete
  16. I will say that BOTH of the auto-dialer campaigns were harsh and classless. Even if I had been going to vote the way they wanted...those messages may have changed my mind!!

  17. I don't think the 12:36 is the landlords I think it is Victory Enterprises trying to defend themselves against their nasty politics. As for the rest of the crew, if Hammerlink, Lynn, Ambrose, Olsen and Meyer get elected this city is doomed.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ambrose is great!
I love that guy. We had drug house problems in our neighborhood and he got it taken care of. Every time I call him he comes through for me. He is great.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Where do you call him at his hang out at the Outing Club? Ambrose talks from both sides of his mouth. Don't trust him. He is critical of everything, and has no original ideas. When is the last time you heard he was for anything that would grow this city? As a matter of fact when is the last time you heard his cronies, Hammerlink, Lynn, Meyer, Olsen of Yerington be for anything? Oops, sorry, they have shown alot of support for the landlords.

  20. I do not understand what purpose is served by people blogging anonymously. In my opinion, those posts should be automatically deleted.

  21. 3:47 - do some research before you post. Check out your accusations that those candidates support the landlords. Report back.

  22. I hear that Dan Lubell gave out money to eleven campaigns the other night at Jumers-Yerington, Olsen, Frink but I'm not sure who else. This could hurt them.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I hear Dan Lubell gave money to Gluba, Olsen and Meyer,

    ReplyDelete
  24. Nope - you have heard wrong. I have not been offered or received money from Mr. Lubell or his PAC. I actually have not seen Dan Lubell is a while and have not myself spoken to him. What I have gotten however, is the threat of himself and/or his group doing something to me and my campaign. He wants to meet with me before 'they' 'do something' to me and before the 'line in the sand is drawn'. Not sure what that means, but I can guess. I have done nothing to this group. I have, however, been firm about my intention to be certain that our city housing codes are enforced. I believe it is in the best interest of this community to enforce housing codes, including rental codes and intend to push for that when elected.

So - to be clear to the last two posters - I have not taken Lubell or PAC money and would not and will not.

    Thanks,

    Jen Olsen
